Just wowww, cannot believe how talented you are... *loads shotgun in spite*

Anyway, I'll stick in my lame two cents... if only to help!

The very first thing I noticed was how distracted my eye was. When i first clicked on this image and saw it, my eye was pulled and dragged everywhere but the focal point; and it was incredibly distracting...

To me, the softness of the unicorn is sort of over played by how sharp the green grass behind it is. I have a hard time concentrating on the animal, especially the amazing detail by the head, because the grass keeps jumping in and yelling "WAIT LOOK AT ME. I'M GRASS BITCH"

Other then that, everything is amazing! The rough brush strokes all pull together and create a beautiful scene... There are hundreds of unicorn based pictures out there, but this honestly a stand out.

Most unicorn potraits are beautiful clean, to represent the animal as such. But you managed to show everyone how such a beautiful animal can look so normal and unspectacular in today's world. Beauty sort of swallowed up by the world we have made.

I think how sad the unicorn is really portrays this idea.

Overall, it's a fantastic picture, and aside from the grass my eyes are having a party in their tiny little pants. ♥

When i first saw this thumbnail, i thought it was a photomanipulation, but i knew i had to check it, so i passed my mouse over the thumb ad when i realized it was a painting i definetely had to click it.

I can't belive how amazingly made is this. This is technique wich i admire a lot because it looks rough but when you look the "whole" an amazing image pops out inside your brain, like an optical ilussion.

I really like the brightness of the unicorn, and these strokes that i can interpretate as the uni's muscles, rougght but detailed and professional i gotta say.

And the grass and trees, oh Gosh, these are incredible, i can't stop staring at them, this picture has a lot of points to look at, not only te nicorn, the whole scene is balanced and i can't find a "focal point" to look at, but maybe the grass, trees and path?
The textures are incredibly weel managed, in the right place to give the sensation they're supposed to give.

The only thing i don't understand is that building on the top right corner of the picture, it looks like some shore construction, a lil house to take sunbaths or something like that, and looks like water he substance on the right side of the image, like a beach.

And the last detail i wanna point is that orange corner on the top left side, it's like something bad is going to happen, it generates some kind of paralelism with the feeling that the image gives, of sadness, quietness and anticipation.
I really like this, congratulations because you're very talented and professional.
(And sorry if some part of this critique looks weird, english it's not my main languaje, tell me if i said something that makes no sense ^^;)

"If men no longer know what they're looking at, there may be other unicorns in the world yet, unknown, and glad of it."
That's what went through my mind when I saw your painting.  Beautiful and very thought-provoking.

Simply brilliant. I believe you do not need me to tell you how great a work of art you have rendered here. I feel that any critique I would give would be inadequate as I cannot find the words to express how stunning this painting is. As far as I can see there are no errors nor anatomical mistakes. Bravo.

"destroying the beauty..."

To me, that's what this picture is telling me. I love how the unicorn just draws you in to look at it. In it's surroundings, this almost looks very real yet fantasy like, this is beautiful work, the colors and shadows are just brilliant.

Nie no, genialna praca.

My god this is just so amazing! I love the colours and the rough look -though it's still kinda detailed- what brushes did you use for the brushes and grass? Self made ones?
The choice of colours is wonderful, too so the only thing that kinda, a tiny lil bit bothers me is that the unicorns pose/position makes it seem as though it's sorta...sliding down that hill or something.
Maybe placing it so that it's back is somewhat paralell to the base of the bridge would improve the composition a bit. -also another minor thing: The reddish glow under the bridge (upper left corner) looks like it's bright enough to shine on the base under it, maybe a few red highlight there would be pretty ^^
GleamingGrin Featured By Owner Jun 20, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
This is a beautiful end result! I love how you say so much with very minimal detail. The cold metal of the bridges overhead and the muddiness of the river lend to a very monotonous color palate which is masterfully complimented by the red in the path, the green in the brush, the blue in the bridge and, of course, the white of the unicorn. The textures are skillfully articulated and your use of shadow strengthens the impact of the image! Kudos!
